Obituary for Roy F. "Bud" Chase

Roy F. "Bud"  Chase
ACTON — Roy “Bud” F. Chase, beloved father, grandfather and great-grandfather, passed away after a long battle with cancer on Sunday, October 14, 2018.

Roy was born 1926, in Newton, MA. He graduated from Newton High School, and enlisted in the U. S. Navy 1943 and was honorably discharged in 1946. As a Flight Engineer during WW II he was deployed to the Pacific theater. He was assigned to the infamous VPB-117, VP-119, and VPB-200 Bombing Squadrons. He was awarded the WW II Victory Medal, American Area Medal, Asiatic Pacific Medal, Navy Aircrew Insignia – 3 Bronze Stars, the Philippine Liberation Medal – 1 Bronze Star, and the Gold Star Award for meritorious acts.

After discharge Roy worked for East Coast Aviation and Capital Airlines. He began work at Raytheon in 1951 as a mechanical engineer, and many years later retired from Raytheon. During his working tenure he earned an Associate Degree in Mechanical Engineering from Lincoln College, followed by his B.B.A. in Engineering & Management at Northeastern University, and then completed his M.B.A. from Northeastern University.
Roy was married to his beloved Pauline for 45 years. Pauline passed away in 2014. They lived in Stow.

Roy is survived by his daughter Linda Siebert, of Pembroke Pines, FL; sister Joan Barker of FL; brother John Chase of FL; granddaughters Amy Rey, of Miami, FL, and Amanda Friend, of Indianapolis, IN, and step-granddaughter Jessica Fanning of MA. He leaves two great-grandsons, Wesley and Brighton Friend, of IN, and many nieces, nephews, and friends.

Visiting hours will be held at Acton Funeral Home, Acton, MA, on Sunday, October 21, 2018, from 1 – 3 PM. Graveside services will be Monday October 22, 2018 at 10 AM at the family gravesites at Brookside Cemetery, Gleasondale Rd., Stow, MA. Memorial page
