Obituary for Donald E. McLatchy
Ayer, MA: Donald E. McLatchy, 57, of Ayer, MA, former longtime resident of Acton, MA, died at his residence on Sunday, November 19, 2017 surrounded by his loving family. He and his wife Debra (Kopp) McLatchy were together for 39 years and married for 34. He is also survived by their children and grandchildren, Drew E. McLatchy and daughters Shelby and Claire along with their mother, Bianca Ramos, all of Ayer, and Daniel J. McLatchy and his fiancé Kayla Pitard and their daughter Hailie all of Ayer. He is also survived by his four sisters, Debra Roberts of Acton, Cynthia McKenney and her husband Adam of Cornish, ME, Sandra Paquet of Ashburnham, MA and Sharon Dalli of Worcester, MA. He was the brother of the late Richard McLatchy, and also leaves many nieces, nephews, other relatives and close friends.
Donald was born in Arlington, MA, son of the late Frank and Claire (Otto) McLatchy. He was a resident of Acton for 24 plus years until moving to Ayer, where he resided for the past 4 years. He spent 24 years as the property manager for the Dover Heights Apartment Complex in Acton and also served as the property manager for 10 years at the Concord Office Park, “Knox Trail” in Concord.
Donald enjoyed the outdoors and looked forward to hunting and fishing in his earlier years, and enjoyed camping trips with family and friends. He always cherished spending time with his family, especially most recently with his adoring three granddaughters. The wonderful memories he leaves behind and a legacy of love and a giving spirit will be cherished by all who loved and knew him.
Visiting hours will be held on Monday, November 27th, 2017 from 9:00-11:00am with a service and celebration of Donald's life to follow at 11:00 am at the Acton Funeral Home, 470 Massachusetts Ave (Rte 111) Acton, MA 01720. Urn burial will follow in Mt. Hope Cemetery, Central Street, West Acton.
In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Donald may be made to the American Cancer Society, 30 Speen Street, Framingham, MA 01701.
