MAYNARD - Albert D. Burke, 75, a businessman and former Maynard Selectman, died Saturday, November 30, 2013 after an illness the Emerson Hospital. He was the beloved husband of the late Geraldine "Jeri" Burke.

He graduated in 1955 from St Mary of the Assumption High School Brookline, MA. He enlisted in the US Army in 1956 and was stationed at the 2nd General Hospital Landstuhl, Germany until 1958. He drove ambulances, was a chaplain’s assistant and during his off-duty time instructed his commanding officers in the fine art of golf. He and his wife, Jeri, were married May 6, 1962 and settled in Maynard to raise their family. A graduate of Babson College with a degree in business management, Mr. Burke was employed as a micrographics and records storage manager at the former Digital Equipment Corporation from 1971 to 1991, then owned and operated Burke Auto Supply from 1992-2006. After his retirement he continued to work part time in security for Regis College.

Active in the community, Mr. Burke was elected Selectman in 1980 and served in the position until1983, and was a key contributor in planning the town ceremonies for commemorating the 25th Anniversary of Digitals Corporate Headquarters in Maynard and its President Mr. Kenneth Olsen.
